What Should I Expect the Day of my Neurotoxin Treatment?
Your neurotoxin injection treatment will be done inside the comfort of our office at Winston Salem Dermatology. The injection sites will be predetermined to make the visit quick and comfortable. You may also be given a topical anesthetic to numb the area prior to injection to make things even more pleasant.
The area that you are having treated will depend on the number of syringes that are used during your treatment:
- Under eyes – 1 – 2 syringes
- Lips – ½ – 2 syringes
- Marionette lines – 1 – 3 syringes
- Smile lines – 1 – 3 syringes
The neurotoxin will quickly be injected into the precise locations that will target the required muscle groups. There is minimal discomfort during the process. Most patients describe feeling a pinching sensation during the injection but say there isn’t much pain at all.
The treatment is so quick and easy, most people go back to their normal activities after the injections are done. However, we do ask that you take the day off from exercise or other strenuous activity.
As far as side effects go, they are extremely mild. You may experience some redness, bruising, and minor inflammation around the injection site.
What Results Should I Expect with Neurotoxin Treatments?
You’ll need to practice patience after your neurotoxin treatment, because you won’t see results immediately after the injections. It will usually take about two weeks to see the full effects from your neurotoxin treatment.
Most people get retreated three to four times a year so they can maintain the ultimate results. Believe it or not, people who start getting this treatment done in their early twenties and thirties have actually been known to train their face to remain relaxed, so they don’t require as many treatments each year.
